Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn
Constellation (2003)
Even though they still remain relatively unknown, this is a band who is taking the concept of growth to a new level. Since the release of Goodbye Enemy Airship they have added to their spacey instrumental sound in an ungodly manner. Perhaps they have made a deal with the devil. Frankly I don't care as long they keep making brilliant music. This time around they have embraced their classical and jazz genes even deeper, adding more horn and acoustic instrumentation. The songs are also more turbulent changing key, beat, and atmosphere faster and more delicately than a porn star can wax. And the result is just as slick! The songs lilt like oak leaves falling to the earth, taking their time to find a nice groove to fall in. Dorks that groove, what a concept. And these guys can play. For fans of Explosions in the Sky and Birdsongs of the Mesozoic.
